DAY ONE RESULTS
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Carroll University track and field program took part in the opening day of competition at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Outdoor Championships on Friday (hosted by Augustana College).
The Carroll men are currently seventh and the women in eighth in their respective team standings.
Jimmy Hinkley won a prestigious individual conference title in the hammer throw with a sixth-attempt distance of 58.10 meters (190-7) to lead the Carroll men, who finished with 18 points after six scored events. Hinkley is seeded seventh in NCAA Division III.
Steven Hermsen finished third in hammer throw with a distance of 57.09 meters (187-3) for the Pioneers.
Spencer Kirsteatter was seventh in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 31 minutes, 20.53 seconds.
In the women's portion of the meet,
Vanessa Uitenbroek won an individual league title in the hammer throw with a first-attempt distance of 54.47 meters (178-8). Uitenbroek was seeded 17th in NCAA Division III coming into the day.
Maria Falk took sixth in the hammer throw 49.22m (161-5) and
Grace Tinder was seventh in pole vault 3.03m (9-11.25) for the Pioneers, who finished with 15 points after six scored events.
