WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll's Women's Bowling team announced some changes to their coaching staff on Thursday, with Mason Petrin being named the program's new head coach, Courtney Ermisch transitioning to an assistant role after serving as the only head coach in program history for the past four years.
"I'm very grateful for everything Courtney has done to start and establish our women's bowling program, and am thrilled she will still have a chance to be part of the program moving forward," Carroll Athletics Director Michael Schulist said. "It's rare in this business to be able to have this seamless of a transition, and I'm excited for the stability and continued growth of the women's bowling program by keeping Courtney on staff."
Petrin, who is in his fourth year with the Pioneers' women's bowling program, is a native of West Bend, Wis. He has served as an assistant coach at both Robert Morris and UW-Oshkosh prior to his stint at Carroll. He coached Robert Morris' men to a second-place finish at the Intercollegiate Team Championship (ITA), before leading the school's women's team to the ITC Championship in 2019.
"Mason has been a fantastic addition the last few years as an assistant coach, and I know the bowlers relate with him well and he has a solid grasp of the program," Schulist said. "I look forward to seeing Mason grow into the head coaching position and I know the program will continue to flourish."
The Pios are coming off a 2023-24 season that saw them qualify for the CCIW Championships, which was hosted by Carroll.
