Pioneers Place Second at Pioneer Invite, Brooks and Keith Earn All-Tournament Honors

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Carroll University women's bowling turned in a strong performance at the Pioneer Invite this weekend,  finishing as the runner-up in the varsity division after advancing to the championship match against Viterbo. The Pioneers qualified second overall in the women's varsity section, earning a spot in the title showdown, where they ultimately fell 3-1 in a best-of-five Baker series.

Individually, Carroll placed three bowlers inside the top six of the standings. Miley Brooks had an 819 series, good for third place overall and a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Alexa Keith followed closely in fourth with an 804 series and a spot on the All-Tournament Team as well. Natalie Hirsch finished sixth at 796, just seven pins shy of cracking the top five.

The Pioneers' consistency throughout qualifying propelled them into the championship bracket, where they battled Viterbo for the title. After splitting the first two games, Carroll dropped the next two in the Baker format, settling for a 3-1 series loss but securing an impressive second-place team finish. Carroll brought 8 freshman to the event this weekend, showcasing the budding young talent that is on this roster, which shows just how much there is to excited about this season for the team.

Carroll will return to action next weekend at the Warhawk Classic, looking to build on a strong start to the season.
