NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Carroll Sophomore
Elizabeth Wang has been named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Player of the Year, as part of the All-Conference team, which was released Tuesday morning by the conference office. This marks the first time a Carroll player has won that award in the 11-year history of the program.
The CCIW leader in points this season with 66, Wang's 51 goals are tied for second in the league, while her 15 assists are tied for third. A Midfielder from Wildomar, Calif. Wang earned CCIW Offensive Player of the Week twice this season. She played a key role in the Pios' first undefeated conference season (5-0) in program history, while helping the team deliver its second-ever conference championship, and the first time they have won the title outright.
Wang, who set a single season school record with 78 goals as a freshman last season, now has 129 career goals, which already ranks fourth in program history. Her 152 career points ranks fifth all-time.
The Pios will host a CCIW semifinal game Wednesday at 7 p.m. against North Central (Ill.) at Schneider Stadium. If Carroll wins, they will host the CCIW Championship game on Saturday, which would also be held at Schneider Stadium.
