For the second time this season, Carroll senior forward Natalie Gricius has been named the CCIW Women's Basketball Player of the Week, following another stretch of outstanding performances that powered the Pioneers to a pair of conference victories.
Gricius opened the week with a commanding effort in Carroll's 88-83 win over Elmhurst, pouring in 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including a perfect 1-for-1 from three-point range. She added 10 rebounds for a double-double, while contributing 2 assists and 2 steals, helping Carroll build a 30-point lead and withstand a late Elmhurst rally.Â
She followed up with an even more stellar outing against Millikin, leading all scorers with 33 points on 11-of-15 shooting, 2-of-5 from deep, and 9-of-10 at the free-throw line. Gricius dominated the glass with 11 rebounds, and chipped in 2 assists and 3 steals as Carroll rolled to an 82-64 victory.Â
Across the two games, Gricius averaged 26.0 points and 10.5 rebounds, shooting an impressive 65% from the field and 85% at the line. Her ability to score efficiently inside and out, combined with her relentless rebounding and defensive presence, continues to set the tone for the Pioneers. Already the CCIW's leading scorer, Gricius has further cemented her status as one of the conference's elite players and a driving force behind Carroll's success.
