Carroll senior guard Emilie Wizner has been named the CCIW Women's Basketball Player of the Week, following a pair of dynamic, high-impact performances that fueled two crucial conference victories — including the Pioneers' upset win over No. 13 Illinois Wesleyan.
Wizner opened the week against North Park, delivering a composed and efficient all-around effort in Carroll's 79–63 win. She finished with 19 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal, knocking down four three pointers as well. Her ability make timely shots and control the offense helped the Pioneers cruise.
She elevated her game even further in Saturday's marquee matchup, powering Carroll to a 68–48 victory over nationally ranked Illinois Wesleyan. Wizner poured in a game-high 25 points, including five made threes, with 19 of those points coming in the second half as Carroll surged past the Titans. Her shot-making in transition, composure late in the shot clock, and defensive presence — including a key block and steal — played central roles in securing one of the program's biggest wins in recent seasons.
Across the two-game stretch, Wizner averaged 22.0 points, 3.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 steal, while connecting on nine three-pointers and providing the veteran leadership Carroll needed to climb into a tie for first place in the CCIW standings. Her combination of perimeter scoring, defensive toughness, and late-game execution continues to position her as one of the conference's most impactful guards and a driving force behind the Pioneers' strong start to league play.
The Pioneers return to action this Wednesday, as they host fellow CCIW opponent North Central with tip scheduled for 7pm.
