Carroll Men’s Tennis Defeats UW–Stevens Point, 5–2

NEENAH, Wis. — Carroll men's tennis earned a 5–2 victory over UW–Stevens Point on Sunday, overcoming a doubles setback by winning five of six singles matches to secure the team win.

Carroll picked up one doubles win at No. 2, where Andrew LaBelle and Ryan LaBelle defeated Jacob Stinski and Conner Kryscio, 6–3, but UW–Stevens Point claimed the doubles point by taking two of the three matches.

The Pioneers responded decisively in singles play, controlling the match from the top of the lineup down. Andrew LaBelle delivered a dominant performance at No. 1 singles, earning a 6–0, 6–2 win over Kryscio. Ulrik Gellein followed with a strong straight-set victory at No. 2, defeating Dawson Froemming, 6–2, 6–4.

At No. 3 singles, Ryan LaBelle battled through a tightly contested match, earning a three-set win over Stinski, 6–4, 6–7(7), [10–7]. Felix Persson added another key point at No. 4, edging Ayden Knuth in a match tiebreak, 6–4, 6–7(7), [11–9].

Carroll sealed the victory at No. 6 singles as Nate Christensen earned a straight-set win over Hayden Schreier, 6–4, 6–4. UW–Stevens Point picked up its lone singles point at No. 5.

With the win, Carroll showcased its depth and resilience in singles play, bouncing back from doubles competition to secure the overall match victory. The Pioneers will shift to conference play on Tuesday as they travel to take on Elmhurst at 4pm.
