Box Score WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Carroll University men's tennis team dropped a 5–2 decision to Augustana on Saturday afternoon, with Andrew and Ryan LaBelle highlighting the Pioneers performances on the day.
Augustana secured the opening doubles point by winning two of the three matches. Carroll earned a doubles win at No. 2, where David Eman and Ulrik Gellein posted a 6–4 victory, but Augustana claimed the No. 1 and No. 3 matches to take the early 1–0 lead.
In singles play, Carroll picked up wins at the top of the lineup. At No. 1 singles, Andrew LaBelle earned a straight-sets victory, 7–5, 6–4, while Ryan LaBelle followed with a 6–3, 6–4 win at No. 2 to account for Carroll's two points on the day.
Augustana closed out the match with straight-set victories at Nos. 3 through 6 singles to secure the overall win, with the Pioneers unable to rebound from early set losses.
Despite the result, Carroll showed competitiveness at the top of the lineup and in doubles play. The Pioneers continue conference action on Tuesday as they host Carthage at 4pm in their final regular season CCIW conference matchup.
