WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Carroll University football team is ready to announce its 2023 season schedule. The Pioneers return to Schneider Stadium this fall after back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2015.
Carroll begins the season on Saturday, September 9 under the lights of Schneider Stadium against Wisconsin Lutheran College. This night battle with WLC marks the second game in the annual Glazers Bowl, Presented by Kwik Trip. The Pioneers defeated the Warriors last season 54-7 on the road to win the first-ever matchup between the two programs.
A week later, the Pioneers embark on a nine-week CCIW slate of games, beginning on the road at North Park on September 16. Carroll defeated five of the nine CCIW teams last season, for the second season in a row. The last time Carroll did that was on the tail end of their first run in the CCIW, from 1989 to 1990. Carroll will make road trips to four more conference opponents, including Augustana (9/30), North Central (10/7), Carthage (10/28), and Wash U (11/11).
Carroll welcomes four CCIW teams to Waukesha in 2023, starting with Illinois Wesleyan on September 23. Carroll finished with a 3-2 home record last season, the last time Pio faithful saw three wins at home was in 2015. Carroll will also welcome Elmhurst (10/14), Wheaton (10/21), and Millikin (11/4).
Carroll University welcomes home Alumni on Saturday, October 14 for the annual homecoming game. The Carroll Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2023 will be honored during halftime. Another notable contest will be the annual Old Musket Game against Carthage on October 28. Carroll has held possession of the Musket for the last two seasons and is aiming to make it three in a row for the first time since 1989. The Pios will be on the road as they take on North Central, the defending Division III Football National Champions. The Cardinals have won two of the last three championships.
