GENEVA, Ohio - Competing at the 13th NCAA Championsip event of her storied career Thursday afternoon, Carroll's
Vanessa Uitenbroek earned the eighth All-American performance of her career, doing so in the Outdoor Discus for the fourth consecutive season.
With the top eight competitors in the field of 22 individuals earning All-American status, Uitenbroek finished in fifth place. After entering the event as the number four seed, Uitenbroek recorded a toss of 43.29m (142-00) on her first attempt. The grad senior from Kaukauna, Wis. then topped that with a throw of 43.66m (143-03) on her second attempt, which proved to be her best throw of the day.
Uitenbroek's weekend (and career) isn't complete yet, as she'll participate in her 14th career NCAA Championship event on Friday when she'll be the number 11 seed in the Women's Shot Put. That event will begin at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT from Geneva, Ohio.
