After finishing fifth in the conference last season, Coach
Craig Mours and the Women's Tennis Team hope to bounce back this year.
"We are definitely going to surprise some people," Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach Craid Mours said.
All six of the Pioneers' singles and doubles players are returning, and with the addition of three new freshmen, In his 15th season at the helm of the Pios, Mours hopes to make a run in conference play.
"I expect all three freshmen to make an immediate impact in both singles and doubles," said Mours.
The team is headlined by junior captains
Natasa Pupovac (Greendale, Wis.) and
Katherine Trifilio (Indian Park, Ill.). Last year, the tandem led the team at one doubles and one and two singles, respectively.
"They are integral for this team, now with a full year together under their belt, I know they'll take another step up," Mours said.
Carroll also has a large senior class this year, graduating three seniors, all of whom are on the rosters.
"Makayla (Counsell), Erin (Horzewski), and Aalaiya (Jacklin) have been nothing but positive influences on this team. Their experience will benefit our younger ladies for years to come," Mours said.
The Pioneers kick off their CCIW season quickly this year with a match-up against last year's champion, North Central, on September 2.
"When you look at our schedule, we get started fast," said Mours. "This year, I have an abundance of enthusiasm because the conference is strong as always, and I know our ladies can compete with the best of them."
The Pioneers will open their 2025 season on August 29 at Concordia (Wis.).
