NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Jake Wright, a senior faceoff specialist from Wauconda, Illinois, was named CCIW Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week following a dominant stretch at the faceoff X that helped fuel Carroll's success over the past week.
Wright was instrumental in Carroll's 10–9 win at Edgewood on March 7, turning in one of the strongest faceoff performances of the season. He went 20-for-22 at the faceoff dot, controlling possession throughout the contest and giving the Pioneers repeated offensive opportunities in a tightly contested nonconference matchup. Wright also added 17 ground balls, consistently winning 50–50 situations and setting the tone for Carroll's transition game.
Earlier in the week, Wright continued to make an impact in Carroll's 12–3 victory over Beloit, where he went 6-for-9 on faceoffs while contributing multiple ground balls and helping Carroll dominate possession for much of the afternoon. His ability to control the faceoff X played a key role in Carroll's early offensive runs and sustained pressure.
Across the two games, Wright's work at the faceoff spot allowed Carroll to dictate tempo, limit opponents' opportunities, and maintain control in critical moments. His performance exemplified the importance of faceoff efficiency and ground ball production, earning him conference recognition.
