Doug Wrecke earned 11 varsity letters and participated in four sports in his Carroll athletic career: football, basketball, track and field, and baseball for one season. In football, Wrecke was named Carroll’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1990 and earned All-Midwest Conference honors as a wide receiver/kick returner in 1992 and 1993. He was team captain and the team’s Offensive MVP in 1993 while leading the MWC in receptions. In 1992 he led the MWC in punt returns and ranked No. 8 in the NCAA in punt return average. He was a four-year starter at wide receiver, collecting 158 career receptions and 12 touchdowns. Wrecke was a two-year starter for the men’s basketball team. In 1991-1992 he led the CCIW in free throw percentage shooting 95%. He was the team captain in 1992-1993, earning Honorable Mention All-Midwest Conference honors. In 1993 he scored a career-high 43 points versus St. Norbert College. In track and field, Wrecke was a 2 time All-Midwest Conference performer. He was a member of the 1993 Pioneer baseball team, playing second-base and outfield.
