Hall of Fame
Lettered four years in football and four years in track and field from 1958 until 1962. Played both defensive back and running back while at Carroll and after graduation, was drafted by the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Played for three years with Toronto before retiring to become a coach with the Saskatoon Hilltops, an amateur football team in Canada. Rechner’s track prowess was well documented as he was the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin high hurdles champion in 1961 after finishing second in that event in 1959. Also was a leg on Carroll’s 880 year relay team that set a school record in 1961.
