Coach Masonholder led the Pioneer football program for 18 years from 1982-2000. His career record at Carroll was 83-83-0, making him the all-time leader in wins for a coach. While at the helm, Coach “Mase” led Carroll to league titles in two conferences. The pioneers finished 7-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) in 1988 and shared the CCIW Championship with Augustana College, who Carroll beat (24-21) during the regular season. Carroll lost to Coe College in the 1993 Midwest Conference title game but captured the crown in 1997 with a 20-15 victory over Grinnell College. Coach Mase developed six All-Americans and had three players named Conference Player of the Year. Masonholder also served as Carroll’s athletic director from 1990-2001. He is Associate Professor Emeritus of Physical Education at Central Methodist University.
