Stacey Sobilo Zurek attended Carroll from 1975-1979 and was a four-year starter on the volleyball (setter) and basketball (guard) teams.  She was named team captain for each program her senior season.  In volleyball, Zurek was a part of a Wisconsin State Championship team as well as a Wisconsin State runner-up.  Additionally, her team finished third in the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) regional tournament and she was an AIAW national tournament participant.  Zurek’s basketball teams also enjoyed team success, winning the Wisconsin State Championship and qualifying for the AIAW regional tournament.  Following her playing career at Carroll, Zurek went on to find success as a collegiate volleyball coach.  She guided the University of Wisconsin-Platteville to a season-long national ranking in 1982 and finished the campaign ranked No. 7 while garnering Coach of the Year honors in the Wisconsin Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Association.  Zurek then went on to become the head volleyball coach at Purdue University-Calumet where she compiled the best win-loss record in school history.  Her teams earned runner-up honors in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) tournament and third-place finishes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics District 21 tournament.  Zurek also claimed CCAC Coach of the Year honors in 1998.
